The Tolkien Book List

This is by no means an all inclusive list of Tolkien's work. I've limited myself to primarily English language publications, but have tried to include as many works as possible, including some which may well be out of print, but are important for one reason or another.

Primary Works | Secondary Works | Scholarly Publications
Works Edited by Others | Books about Tolkien or his Work
Rare, Out-Of-Print, and Collectible

Primary Works

These are the works for which Tolkien is probably best known.

Secondary Works

I hate to use the term 'secondary' as it implies that these are in some way of lesser value than the 'primary' works. It's simply that these works may not be as familiar to the casual Tolkien reader.

Scholarly Publications

Tolkien's various scholarly publications

Works Edited by Others

History of Middle Earth series, edited by Christopher Tolkien

Other works.

Books about Tolkien or his Work

This is a select list of the many works about Tolkien, his life, and his career

Rare, Out-Of-Print, and Collectible
